The Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps was founded in the summer of 1984 by Bill and Gayle Cook of Bloomington, IN. The Star of Indiana was formed to serve as a competitive musical experience primarily for kids (ages 14-21) of Indiana and the United States but also contained members from other countries. The Star of Indiana maintained its headquarters in Bloomington. The Star organization, in coordination with its parent company Cook Group Incorporated, is still very active in the Bloomington community.

Star Alumni Association is based in Indianapolis, Indiana and is comprised of alumni from Star of Indiana, Brass Theater and Blast! as well as those who have participated in our current performance unit called Star United.
